Garden Grove is now home to a second Walmart. The building that was home to Costco, had been vacant for over 10 years. The grand opening and ribbon cutting were held Wednesday, July 16th. People waited in line for hours to be among the first to shop there. This new Walmart on Gilbert Street is a full Walmart, the other on the corner of Euclid and Katella is a Neighborhood Market. The 10th Annual Golf Classic took over Willowick Golf Course for a couple of good causes. Golfers brought out their best game in a fundraiser for the Garden Grove Community Foundation and the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce. Families and friends were rocking on the lawn at Eastgate park again on Thursday evenings. Garden Grove's summer concerts continued with Funky Hippeez and Wanted. These were shows number 2 and 3 of the 2014 season. The Hippeez brought back the disco days to an appreciative crowd. A week later Wanted thrilled the Bon Jovi lovers among us. Before each concert some very talented local high school students sang their hearts out in The Voice of Garden Grove hoping for fame and the $500 top prize.
