Home Improvement Loans and Grants

The City of Garden Grove's Community Development Department/ Neighborhood Improvement Division is offering various home improvement loan and grant programs for Garden Grove residents. Senior Home Improvement Grants
Qualifying, low income seniors living in Garden Grove, ages 62 and over, may receive a grant of up to $5,000 for exterior property improvements, such as roof, windows, painting, and garage door work. All work must be completed by a City-approved licensed contractor, and all applicants must have their home tested for the presence of lead-based paint. Grant recipients must wait at least five years to become eligible for a new grant.

Mobile Home Grants
Mobile Home Grants are only available to Garden Grove residents who meet the low- to moderate-income requirements. This grant is for up to $5,000 in exterior improvements, such as roof repair, exterior painting, windows, and patio or stair repairs. All work must be completed by a City-approved licensed contractor. Grant recipients must wait at least five years to become eligible for a new grant.

First-Time Homebuyer Program
Loans of up to $10,000 for the purchase of a home or condominium in Garden Grove are available for those who meet specific income and family-size requirements. Loans must be repaid when the home is sold, refinanced, or rented.
