The Garden Grove Fire Department is currently accepting interest cards for the position of firefighter and firefighter/paramedic.
Located in the heart of Orange County just south of Disneyland, the city encompasses approximately 18 square miles and serves a highly diverse population of over 170,000 people.
The Garden Grove Fire Department is a full-service department that provides fire and rescue services with firefighters and firefighter/paramedics. The department operates out of seven fire stations strategically located throughout the city that house BLS and paramedic engine companies, paramedic assessment units, paramedic squads, a tillered 100' aerial truck, a mobile light/air unit and a battalion commander. The department responds to approximately 11,000 incidents per year that include: fire response, hazardous materials incidents, emergency medical response, technical rescues and other various calls. The department utilizes constant manning to ensure that all fire department units are staffed with a minimum level of personnel on a daily basis. This approach allows members to work additional shifts and at different fire stations located throughout the city.
The department provides progressive training on a monthly basis with emphasis on core firefighter skills, strategy and tactics, continuing education for EMTs and paramedics, technical rescue training and other related subject matter. Monthly training is provided both in the classroom and on a field level.
Located across from Anaheim Stadium is the Garden Grove Fire Department's training facility. The fire department is a member of the North Net Regional Fire Training Center that is shared by the Anaheim and Orange Fire Departments. This facility is a state-of-the-art training center that contains classrooms, training tower and technical rescue area. Some of the training provided at the training center include: firefighting skills, hazardous materials response, emergency medical training and auto extrication.
