DUI Checkpoint Nets 8 Arrests

The Garden Grove Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on November 21, 2009, as part of The City of Garden Grove’s commitment to public safety. This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in the City of Garden Grove. The location of Saturday’s checkpoint was on 13752 Harbor Blvd. The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

During the checkpoint one of the vehicles being screened was sent into the secondary screening location, due to the driver not having a driver’s license in his possession. When officers contacted him, a want/warrant check was completed, revealing that his driver’s license was suspended. It was also discovered that he was an outstanding parolee who was being sought by his parole officer. He was taken into custody without an incident.

601 Vehicles Screened

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1!
