The Resort Services Team, was a major component of the Department’s Strategic Plan, and was formed in March 2001. Its primary mission is to help maintain a safe and secure environment for the enjoyment of all the guests, merchants and employees in the Resort area known as “International West”.
Garden Grove’s Redevelopment Agency has invested millions of dollars in numerous hotels and restaurants along the Harbor Corridor. In 2006, Disneyland drew an unprecedented attendance of approximately 15 million tourists to the Anaheim theme park and the surrounding resort venues – including the Garden Grove Entertainment District, “International West”. In addition, Anaheim’s Convention bureau estimates that during 2006, they held 565 events and conventions, which accounted for an additional 1.5 million room nights sold and an estimated additional one million participants and guests into the resorts economies.

Lt. Robert Fowler is an East Division Commander and is in charge of the Resort area. He understands the importance of the detail, having been the first supervisor when the team was formed. Sgt. Rick Wagner is assigned to the East Patrol Division, and supervises the team. His experience as the Department’s Mounted Enforcement Unit Supervisor has added to the team. Master Officer Mike Feher is a twenty-seven year veteran of the department and heads up the Resort Services Team. Mike has almost daily contact with all of the resort businesses, which is the cornerstone of that safety and security balance. Mike also keeps the department and the City up to date on the area’s needs and any problems that arise. It’s this personal touch that creates a close liaison with the resort community.
