Time is running out for America’s aging water system. Two million miles of water pipe are crumbling beneath our feet, and if something isn’t done, our nation’s health and welfare could be at risk.
That’s the message heard loud and clear in “Liquid Assets: The Story of Our Water Infrastructure.” The program is a 90-minute documentary that shows a water delivery system that’s falling apart. Many underground pipes are over 100 years old, and experts say if they’re not repaired and up-graded, a national water crisis could become reality.
“Liquid Assets” shows us the problem, outlines the consequences, and explores 21st Century solutions to address infrastructure rehabilitation needs, both technologically and economically.
“It’s a very weighty issue,” says Garden Grove Public Works Director, Keith Jones. “We keep postponing the fix, but the problem isn’t going away.”
Jones calls “Liquid Assets” an engrossing film that applies to communities big and small across the country, and encourages citizens to watch it.
“Liquid Assets” airs on cable Channel 3 on Thursday April 2, at 1:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. The schedule repeats on April 9 and April 16. “Liquid Assets” is produced by Pennsylvania State University.
