Council Member Christopher V. Phan was first-elected to the Garden Grove City Council in 2012. An attorney by profession, Council Member Phan currently serves as Orange County Deputy District Attorney, in addition to a United States Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps Officer, and a university law professor.
Born in Vinh Long, Vietnam, Council Member Phan has been a resident of Garden Grove for four years. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, IN, and a Juris Doctorate from Southern Illinois University Law School.
Council Member Phan has maintained active involvement in both community and professional organizations. He is a current board member for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, and the Horizon Cross Cultural Center, as well as board member and legal advisor for the Westminster Vietnam War Memorial. He formerly served on the board for the Vietnamese-American Bar Association of Southern California.
An avid football fan, Council Member Phan balances a healthy appetite with regular physical workouts. At his official swearing-in, he proposed marriage to his girlfriend, Cindy Pham.
To unite Garden Grove's diverse community, increase employment, beautify the city, and improve public safety.
