  52nd Annual Labor Day Festival
This Garden Grove Elks Lodge Festival is open to public and has always been an Orange County favorite with the families. Starting with a pancake breakfast at 8 am, hot dogs & hambugers from 11-2 pm, and BBQ served from 3-6 pm, with corn on cob and refreshments of all kinds. Live entertainment includes games for the kids and a bounce house. Different door raffles will be held throughout the day. A grand prize raffle for a 2010 Ford Ranger truck to be held at the conclusion of the event. For more information call (714) 534-1952.

  First-Time Homebuyer Workshops
The City of Garden Grove is helping take the worry out of first-time home buying by offering free, monthly Home Buyer Education Workshops through December 2010. All workshops are held at the Garden Grove Courtyard Center, in the Village Green, at 12732 Main Street, starting at 9:00 a.m.
The workshops are broken into two, four-hour sessions. Session A begins at 9:00 a.m., with Session B beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Potential Garden Grove home owners will learn all aspects of the home buying process, including how to qualify for a home mortgage, and information on the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) offered by the Cities of Garden Grove and Westminster.
NSP provides up to $40,000 in down payment assistance to qualified buyers purchasing a bank-owned (REO) home. The workshop is a requirement for anyone interested in buying a home through NSP.
The workshop is presented in English, however information and assistance will also be provided in Spanish and Vietnamese. The last workshops for 2010 take place on Saturdays, September 18, October 23, and December 4.

Enjoy some food and wine at a community block party at the Bridgecreek Business Park on Valley View just north of the 22 freeway. Proceeds benefit Pacifica High School students and their Associated Booster groups. The event begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. Ticketsare $45 and include one alcoholic beverage and unlimited restaurant 'tastes'. To purchase tickets, visit www.tasteforpacifica.com
Participating restaurants include Augustino's, Marie Callendar's Grill, Pei Wei, Perry's Pizza, Rubio's, and Super Mex.

  OCAPICA Annual Celebration Fundraising Dinner - Under the Banyan Tree
OCAPICA invites you to their Annual Dinner as they honor Cal State Fullerton Asian American Studies, Orange County Human Relations, Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team, and Asian Pacific American Legal Center of Southern California. The benefit will be held at the Turnip Rose at Grand Newport Plaza, 1901 Newport Blvd, in Costa Mesa. From 6-7 p.m. will be a reception and silent auction; from 7-9 p.m. is the program and dinner. Business attire. Tickets are $100 each. Also seeking sponsors, please respond by September 7.

The annual cultural festivities include entertainment, food, and crafts from the Middle East. The weekend-long event attracts thousands of visitors to Garden Grove's Village Green park and will be held on Friday, September 24 to Sunday, September 26.   35th Annual Orange County Wine Festival & Benefit Auction
All the proceeds from the Festival will go directly to Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, whose mission to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Program begins at 2:30 with wine tasting then a silent auction followed by a live auction.
The event will be held at KiwanisLand Park, 9860 Larson Avenue, in Garden Grove.

This exciting fund raising event will include dinner, a live and silent auction, entertainment, and recognition of special guests for their continuing support of the shelter. Tickets are $125.   GGCF Food for Thought Luncheon
The 12th annual Food for Thought Luncheon is an opportunity to inspire young students in the community to make positive choices for the future. The event will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 11767 Harbor Boulevard, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Garden Grove Unified School District high schools select students to meet business and community leaders for a networking opportunity. Highlighting the Food for Thought is a keynote speaker delivering a motivational message. This year's speaker is Jesse Billauer, Director of National Outreach for Life Rolls On, a division of the Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation.   Chamber of Commerce Women's Division Fashion Show
The Women's Division 14th Annual Fashion Show/Auction/Luncheon will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Embassy Suites. Doors open at 11:00am. Fashions will once again be supplied by Cindy O'Brien along with the hit of last year's show, the men modeling their own "hobby" fashions. Tickets will be $25 along with many opportunities to bid on "fantastic" items donated by the Garden Grove businesses and residents of Garden Grove. The Women's Division is a non-partisan, non-profit, financially self-sustaining organization who creates, maintains and promotes cultural, civic and commercial progress. We carry out projects that enriches the Garden Grove environment and community. Each year the Division hosts the "Silver Spoons" (top volunteer recognition) and award 10 cash scholarships to the top ROP students from GGUSD to name a few causes.
