Thirteen people have tried to kill the President of the United States. Four have succeeded. These murderers and would-be murders are generally dismissed as maniacs and misfits who have little in common with each other and noting in common with the rest of us. Assassins combines Sondheim's signature blend of intelligently stunning lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of our nation's culture of celebrity and the violent means some will use to obtain it. Bold, original, disturbing, alarmingly funny, Assassins is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written. MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.

Re:Imagine Garden Grove ** A DOWNTOWN OPEN STREETS EVENT **
On Sunday, October 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., nearly three miles of streets around downtown will be carfree for the first time, and filled with walkers, bicyclists, skateboarders and runners, all enjoying music, food, and interactive demonstrations. "Re:Imagine Garden Grove - A Downtown Open Streets Event" will give residents and visitors alike a chance to experience this iconic part of the city in a unique way.
The route will create a temporary public space featuring three stages, set in Village Green and Civic Center parks, and on Main Street. The main stage will host musical performances, and an active stage will offer martial arts, Zumba, and salsa lessons for all ages, while a culinary stage will present live cooking demos led by Orange County chefs.
How-to workshops for kids will be set up near a bicycle safety course, complete with a mock city to educate younger riders on safe riding skills. A play zone, with ping-pong tables, giant chessboard, and rock-climbing wall will keep kids active, while a pop-up BMX bike demonstration will keep them entertained.
Picnic tables will line Main Street for outdoor service and seating, and local eateries from around the community will offer food from around the world. The Garden Grove Community Foundation will be hosting a beer and wine garden at the Courtyard Center.
A temporary public art installation will debut that day, and strolling performers including stilt walkers and Asian lion dancers will traverse the route. For more information, go to www.ci.garden-grove.ca.us and look for the Open Streets link.

  One More Productions presents ASSASSINS
See it at The Gem Theater, 12852 Main Street, Garden Grove.

Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
