| First Time Homebuyers Workshop The City of Garden Grove Community Development Department is now offering free workshops for first-time homebuyers interested in purchasing a home in Garden Grove. The workshops consist of two, four-hour sessions (Session A and Session B) and take place one Saturday per month at the Garden Grove Courtyard Center, located in the Village Green, at 12732 Main Street. The next five workshops for 2011/2012 are scheduled for November 19, December 10, January 14, February 11, and March 10. Session A takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Session B is from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sessions A and B can be taken on the same, or different days, and either Session A or B may be taken first. The workshops will introduce potential Garden Grove homeowners to the basic steps of home buying, including how to qualify for a home mortgage, as well as information on financial assistance programs offered through the City. The City currently offers a State of California Proposition 1C-funded CalHome loan. This loan program is designed to assist qualified low- and very low-income families with the monies necessary to bridge the gap between the mortgage amount a homebuyer can qualify for, and the actual price of a detached or attached single-family home, condominium, or townhouse. The CalHome loan is a 30-year deferred payment subordinate trust deed loan (no monthly payments required) not to exceed $60,000. Simple interest of 3% annually is accrued for the life of the loan. | Alzheimer's Support Group The Alzheimer's Association of Orange County hosts a support group to provide an opportunity to meet other caregivers and families, share experiences, and exchange ideas. These meetings are free and open to all caregivers and family members of individuals with dementia. All groups listed are in compliance with chapter and national standards.
