At the conclusion of the 42nd annual Garden Grove Pride Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 1, 2015, the winning home in the “Best Home & Garden” contest was revealed. Zone 16, belonging to Patrick and Valerie Sullivan, on Dunklee Lane took the top honor. The week prior to the Ceremony, the community was invited to participate in an online voting contest to pick the best-looking home in Garden Grove.
The Sullivan’s home was chosen from a field of 18 -- this year's 17 Home of the Year winners, and the Best Water-Wise Home.Photos of each were posted on the City’s website for the contest. The Home of the Year winners are chosen by volunteer judges who review approximately 3,000 homes in each of the city’s 17 zones. The Sullivan’s reside in zone 16.
Their sage-colored, award-winning home is a farmhouse style, and took Patrick and Valerie eight years to remodel. They’ve lived in the home since 1986. The Sullivan name is no stranger to the Garden Grove Pride Awards. Patrick’s parents, the B.J. Sullivan Family, are in the program’s Hall of Fame. This distinction is awarded when a home is named Home of the Year four times.
