Making their debut at the free Summer Concert Series is Flashback Heart Attack, playing this Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Eastgate Park, 12001 St. Mark Street. Taking rock back to the 80's, the tribute band has won 'Best Live Band' title three years in a row from OC Weekly.
Concert goers are encouraged to arrive early, at 6:00 p.m., to watch the last preliminary round of the Voice of Garden Grove. For the past three concerts, 11 local high school students have competed in a singing competition for a chance to make it to the finals where they could win a $500 cash prize and another $500 towards their school's choir program. This week, students from La Quinta, Pacifica, and Santiago high schools will vocally duel it out to win the remaining spot in the finals.
Planning to take a photo on Instagram or tweet at the concert? Make the post during the first-half of the concert and use hashtag, #ggsummerconcerts, to automatically be entered into a social media challenge, hosted by the City. The user with the most retweets and the photo with the most likes will win a special giveaway at intermission.
Various vendors will be selling food and beverages, including local gourmet food trucks, like The Coconut Truck, OH MY GAGA, Macho Nacho, and Sexy Burger.
For the safety and enjoyment of all, no canopies, golf carts, or alcohol is permitted in the park. Dogs must be leashed and picked up after at all times.
The 2015 free Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the City, AT&T, GKN Aerospace, and Republic Services. The last band of the series is Stone Soul, playing Motown rock on August 13.
