Soaring temperatures can be especially dangerous to seniors and children, especially if homes have no air conditioning. To offer some relief from the high temperatures, the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will serve as a public cooling center when temperatures are forecasted to reach 95 degrees Fahrenheit and above. During the months of July and August, on forecasted high-heat days, the cooling center will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including weekends. The Center is located at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

Start the summer with a funky-fresh 70’s beat at the free Summer Concert Series kick-off on Thursday, July 9, featuring The Funky Hippeez. A total of six concerts will be held at Eastgate Park every Thursday through August 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastgate Park is located at 12001 St. Mark Street.
This year, in addition to warnings against the use of illegal fireworks, both Garden Grove Police and Fire Departments are cautioning fireworks users to be especially aware of an increased fire danger due to dry surroundings.
Browning turf and dried trees, shrubbery, and landscapes—the result of tightened water restrictions—have created hazardous fire conditions. Flames, sparks, and even heat coming from extinguished fireworks are strong reasons for concern.
Garden Grove Day Camp provides a fun, safe, and affordable summer program for children, ages 5 through 12. The 11-week program begins this week and runs through September 4. Camp hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and take place at the Courtyard Center at Village Green Park, 12732 Main Street.

Effective Wednesday, July 1, 2015, the City of Garden Grove will discontinue providing passport services. Currently, there are 48 locations that provide passport services within a ten-mile radius from Garden Grove City Hall.

The Garden Grove Fire Department and Garden Grove Fire Fighters will be joining the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the fight against muscle disease at this year's Fill the Boot campaign. Fire fighters will be accepting donations for the MDA at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, in the Grove District - Anaheim Resort.
At tonight’s special meeting of the Garden Grove City Council, the City Council concluded a five-month nationwide search by unanimously appointing Scott C. Stiles as the new city manager. Stiles, a former assistant city manager for the City of Cincinnati, Ohio, officially begins his city manager position with the City of Garden Grove on Monday, August 3, 2015.
The City’s main meeting facility for public and private events, as well as Garden Grove City Council and City Commission meetings, is now temporarily closed while interior renovations take place. The Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue is tentatively scheduled to re-open in early 2016.
