Local Hero to be Lauded

Tibor Rubin cmoh.jpgOn Tuesday, March 24, Mayor Bao Nguyen and the Garden Grove City Council will pay tribute to Garden Grove resident Tibor Rubin, who was awarded the nation’s most prestigious military decoration, the Congressional Medal of Honor in 2005, for his heroic actions during the Korean War. Rubin’s courage and valor will be memorialized with the unveiling of a commissioned bronze bust of Rubin as a U.S.

It’s that time of year again for Garden Grove’s annual “Eggs-cavation” event on Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Atlantis Play Center. Atlantis Play Center is located at 13630 Atlantis Way in Garden Grove Park. Only 300 tickets for egg hunt participants are available.

The 42nd annual Garden Grove Pride Awards, which recognizes the finest-looking homes in the city, is seeking volunteer judges to select the most beautiful. Judges do not have to be Garden Grove residents and are encouraged to work in pairs.

CPR Training Class Offered

City to Recognize Class of 2015 College Graduates

For a third year, the City is recognizing Garden Grove college graduates for their outstanding accomplishments. The City is seeking names and information from Garden Grove residents who will receive a Spring or Fall 2015 undergraduate or post-graduate academic degree from any college or university. Graduates who submit their information by April 1, 2015 will be recognized at the Tuesday, April 28, 2015 City Council meeting, at 6:30 p.m.

Senior Day Trip to Pechanga Resort and Casino

The H. Louis Lake Senior Center is coordinating a day trip to Pechanga Resort and Casino. Join the fun on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at a cost of $35 per person. The price includes bus transportation, continental breakfast, and $20 back in slot play.

The bus departs from the H. Louis Lake Senior Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue, promptly at 8:00 a.m., and will return by approximately 5:00 p.m.
