CERT training, putting out a fire

The City’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) begins a new, four-Saturday training academy, starting March 18 and held every other Saturday, ending with graduation on April 29. Classes start at 8:00 a.m. and finish at 4:30 p.m. Classes take place at North Net Fire Training Center, located at
2400 E. Orangewood Avenue, Anaheim, 92806. CERT is a volunteer organization with the Garden Grove Fire Department that provides free community training on how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a disaster, as well as lend emergency support to first responders.

CERT training topics include disaster preparedness, medical operations, I.C.S. (Incident Command System), fire safety, light search and rescue, medical operations, terrorism, and disaster psychology. CERT participants must be at least 18 years old and live and/or work in Garden Grove.
