The Garden Grove Fire Department recently received a donation from the Emblem Club of Garden Grove, with a request that it benefit children in the community. The proceeds are being used for a child drowning prevention awareness campaign, currently underway.
Garden Grove Police Department invites the Garden Grove community to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 by attending the Main Street Block Party in the Memorial Plaza Lot, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In an effort to prevent crime and build safer and stronger communities, this night is intended to educate community members about the Neighborhood Watch Program. This event encourages and motivates residents to join an established Watch in their area or create a new one if one does not already exist.
Recent coyote sightings in Garden Grove have prompted the City to make local residents aware of coyotes in the area, urging them to take needed precautions to protect themselves, their pets, and their property against these wild animals.
According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), during the warm summer months, particularly from March through August, coyotes are very active. They are raising their young and searching for food.
“The new normal” is how Governor Brown described the severe drought conditions California has been living with for the last four years. In Garden Grove, water conservation efforts became a norm even before the start of the drought that have contributed to results considered nothing short of watertight.

The OC Fair has invited all 34 Orange County cities to celebrate their 125th anniversary during the ‘City Days’ campaign designed to highlight each city’s hometown spirit. On Garden Grove’s day, Friday, August 7, 2015, the Mayor and City Council will lead fairgoers in singing the National Anthem during a flag raising ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
