Water Operation

Garden Grove's water supply comes from two sources: imported water from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Met), and local groundwater. The Water Services Division is responsible for maintaining the wells, reservoirs, import water connections, and the distribution systems that deliver water to your door.

To meet the increasing demand for water in the densely populated Southern California region, the Orange County Water District (OCWD) and the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) are working together on a groundwater replenishment system.

Groundwater Replenishment System

In order to provide a safe, reliable water supply for Orange County’s current and future residents, the Orange County Water District and Orange County Sanitation District are working to diversify Orange County’s water supply with the development of the Groundwater Replenishment (GWR) system. This innovative water purification project will provide a new source of locally controlled, high-quality water for north and central Orange County.
