Maria Stipe, Deputy City Manager
Maria began her career with the City of Garden Grove on June 9, 1997. She started as an Administrative Analyst in the Public Works Department and went on later to become both a Senior Administrative Analyst and Principal Administrative Analyst.

In 2006, Maria was named Assistant to the City Manager and took on additional duties as the Employee Development Manager in 2008. In 2011, Maria was appointed Deputy City Manager, a position she has held for the past four years. In this capacity, Maria provides policy-oriented and administrative support to the City Manager. She works with designated departments in order to achieve departmental objectives.

Maria holds a B.A. in Psychology, with an emphasis in Organizational Behavior from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and obtained her Master’s Degree in Public Administration, with an emphasis in Public Finance, from CSUF in 1996. She is also a Franklin Covey Certified Trainer.

Maria is an active member of the International City Manager’s Association, Women Leading Government, and has served as the staff liaison for the League of California Cities since 2008. She maintains a strong involvement in the Garden Grove community and presently serves on the Executive Board as Secretary of the Garden Grove Rotary Club. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, hiking, bicycling, skiing and spending time with her family and friends.
