city manager garden grove brochure final.jpgAs part of the recruitment process for selecting a new City Manager, the City of Garden Grove is seeking input from the community on what they consider to be the qualities and experience needed for the next City Manager. The City is providing an online survey in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Korean, as well as a community forum to obtain public feedback.

"The City Council has the responsibility of working, on behalf of the community, to choose the best quality leadership for this city. To do that, it's important for us to know what qualities they believe a City Manager must possess to best serve the interests of our city and our community. What the community wants will weigh heavily on our selection process," says Garden Grove Mayor Bao Nguyen.

The community can now access a brief online survey here or through the City’s mobile app. The survey can also be obtained and returned at Garden Grove City Hall, at 11222 Acacia Parkway.

A community forum will take place on Thursday, March 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

The forum will be facilitated by representatives from CPS-HR, the executive search firm hired by the City to recruit the next City Manager. Refreshments will be served.

The closing filing date for the City Manager position is March 23, 2015, after which preliminary interviews will take place. The Council’s final determination is expected to be announced by June 2015.

Appointed by the Garden Grove City Council, the City Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, overseeing the operations of the City’s nine departments. The City Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all activities and operations of the City, ensuring that all public services are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner. The City Manager also implements policy decisions made by the City Council and facilitates the development and implementation of City goals and objectives.
