Got a great-looking, water-wise front yard? It may be chosen to receive the ‘Best Water-Wise Home’ recognition at the 43rd annual Garden Grove Pride Awards on May 23, 2016. Garden Grove homeowners interested in competing are asked to call the Recreation Division at (714) 741-5290 no later than Monday, April 18, 2016.

The water-wise category made its debut five years ago at the Pride Awards as part of an effort by the City to keep residents aware of the need to conserve water. Nominated front yards and landscapes need to meet drought-tolerant criteria, such as the use of California and southwestern native plants, permeable ground cover, like rock, pea gravel, mulch or decomposed granite, and efficient methods of irrigation. These factors combined create an attractive, healthier environment while reducing pollution and supporting a habitat for wildlife.

Credentialed Public Works staff will be judging the nominations received.
