Careless Drivers get Expensive Lesson During Police Crosswalk Operation

As part of the City’s Accident Reduction Campaign, the Garden Grove Police Department conducted a crosswalk operation on Friday, May 12, at Lemonwood Lane and Garden Grove Boulevard. The purpose of the operation was to educate drivers on the importance of yielding to pedestrians in marked and unmarked crosswalks. The operation was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Garden Grove to Build $5.5 Million Fire Station to Replace 45-Year-Old Facility

The City of Garden Grove officially announces and commemorates the new location of Fire Station No. 6 with a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, May 23, at 5:00 p.m., at West Haven Park, 12232 West Street. The new facility replaces the station currently located at 12111 Chapman Avenue. The City has not built a new fire station in more than 45 years.

Magnolia Street to Undergo Street Improvements

Magnolia Street, from Garden Grove Boulevard to the 22 Freeway eastbound off-ramp, is set to undergo street improvements beginning Monday, May 22, 2017 through November 2017.

Motorists are advised that traffic on Magnolia Street will be reduced to one lane to facilitate construction work. Work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. There will be no parking allowed in the construction zone. Access to businesses and residences along the construction area will be maintained at all times.

The 30th Annual Memorial takes place on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 5:00 p.m., in front of Garden Grove Police Headquarters, at 11301 Acacia Parkway.

The City is raising awareness of Huanglongbing, also known as HLB or citrus greening disease, which has been discovered in Los Angeles County. HLB kills citrus trees and has no cure.

City Hall Closed, No Street Sweeping Memorial Day

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2017. No street sweeping services will be provided on the holiday. Streets will be swept as scheduled on all other days. Also, trash pick up will be delayed by one day.
