Seniors Celebrate Father's Day with Special Treats and Dance

Garden Grove seniors are invited to celebrate Father's Day with a fun-filled event that includes dancing, food, and special treats, sponsored by Scan Health Plan. The event will take place in the Senior Center Dining Room, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue, on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Lunch will also be available for a suggested donation of $3.50 per person. "The Serenaders" will provide live music.

Senior Center Hosts Free Movie Night

The H. Louis Lake Senior Center will host a free movie night on Thursday, June 11, 2015 starting at 5:00 p.m., in the Senior Center Dining Room, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

All seniors are invited to enjoy free dinner, refreshments and the movie "Taken 3," starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, and Forest Whitaker. The event is sponsored by Monarch HealthCare.

City Invites Public to Click, Then Pick, Top Home in Garden Grove

Beginning Monday, May 25 through Sunday, May 31, the City of Garden Grove invites the community to participate in a annual online voting contest to pick the best-looking home in Garden Grove as part of the 42nd anniversary of the City's annual home beautification program, Garden Grove Pride. The Best Home and Garden title will go to the home with the most online votes and be announced at the Garden Grove Pride Awards Ceremony held on Monday, June 1.

A new date has been announced for the 28th annual Call to Duty Police Memorial, which was postponed from May 14, due to rain. The new date is Thursday, June 11, 2015, at 5:00 p.m., in front of Police Headquarters, at 11301 Acacia Parkway.

Forum on Proposed Beach City Desalination Plant

Garden Grove Mayor Bao Nguyen will lead a community forum to discuss the proposed Huntington Beach Desalination Project, currently in the late development stages. The public forum will take place on Tuesday, May 19, at 6:00 p.m., in the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

Police Memorial Postponed

Due to rain in the forecast, the 28th annual Call to Duty Police Memorial, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, May 14, has been postponed. A new date for the memorial will be announced shortly. City Hall Closed, No Street Sweeping

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2015. No street sweeping services will be provided on the holiday. Streets will be swept as scheduled on all other days. Also, trash pick up will be delayed by one day.

Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo - like St. Patrick's Day - is, for many people, just an occasion for having a good time with alcohol. Do you plan to join the fiesta on May 5? The Garden Grove Police Department has planned to deploy officers looking to identify and stop suspected drunk drivers. Additionally, every traffic and patrol officer assigned to duty will be on heightened alert to prevent a senseless tragedy due to alcohol or drugs.
