In preparation of the impending rainy season, the City of Garden Grove reminds all residents of the availability of up to 10 free sand bags, on first-come, first serve basis, at the following city locations:

Fire Station #2, 11805 Gilbert Street
Fire Station #3, 12132 Trask Avenue
Fire Station #4, 12191 Valley View Street

Tower on the Green Gets a Facelift

Clock Tower.jpgSince 2002, the “Tower on the Green” clock tower has symbolized the proud spirit of the Garden Grove community. The iconic landmark, standing at the entrance to the Village Green Park, is undergoing a much needed “make-over” which includes sanding, scraping, wire brushing, and a fresh coat of paint. The $13,500 project is being funded by Park Improvements/Park Fees.

Park Re-Opening Adds $25M Upgrades

On Saturday, February 15, 2014, the community will welcome Haster Basin Recreational Park, formerly known as Twin Lakes Park, located at 12952 Lampson Avenue.

WHAT: Walmart will hire approximately 200 associates to work at the new Walmart slated to open this spring in Garden Grove. A temporary hiring center has opened at 12880 Beach Blvd. in Stanton.

Broadwater gave a gleaming report on the City’s financial health, along with a timetable for anticipated groundbreakings and grand openings of major projects, such as the Great Wolf Lodge® water park hotel, and a new, full-service Walmart store. The event was hosted by the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce.

$2.8K Sparks "BiGG" Toy Purchase

DSC03090.JPGLast Wednesday, December 4, 2013, members of the Garden Grove Fire Department filled their fire trucks with $2,850 worth of toys for their annual Spark of Love Toy Drive. The purchase, made possible by a donation from the Disneyland Resort, took place at US Toy and Constructive Playthings, located at 12372 Garden Grove Boulevard.

Festival Amphitheater Agreement

FestivalAmph.jpgThe Garden Grove City Council recently approved two agreements allowing for year-round use of the Festival Amphitheater, which prior, saw only seasonal productions. Beginning January 1, 2014, the co-operators, Shakespeare Orange County (SOC), and Great Reunions, Inc. (GRI), will share the 540-seat Amphitheater, boosting use of the iconic Main Street venue and enhancing cultural arts in the community.
