On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, the Garden Grove City Council adopted a resolution to revise the fee for block party permits to cover the costs of public safety. Effective immediately, the fee for block party permits will be $136.50.
State law authorizes cities to adopt and implement fees and rates for municipal services, provided that it does not exceed the estimated cost.
The former block party permit fee did not include costs of public safety. After reviewing the costs to the City to process and monitor a block party, a revised fee implementing an additional $86.50 was made. The revised fee of $136.50 is based on the actual or estimated cost of providing the services, including labor, materials, and overhead.
