Community Meeting Dates For Voting District Boundaries

The meetings, running from the end of November 2015 through March 2016, will be facilitated by David Ely from Compass Demographics, the firm overseeing the formation of five voting districts for the 2016 elections.

Holiday Season Kicks Off With Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration

Get ready to experience holiday sights, sounds, and spirit at the City of Garden Grove’s 9th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. This year’s event will take place under the illuminated clock tower at Village Green Park, at the corner of Main and Euclid Streets. The event is free to the public, with specialty foods, made and sold by members of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) at 5:00 p.m., live entertainment from talented local youth, and a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus.

City Hall Closed, No Street Sweeping Thanksgiving Day

In observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Thursday, November 26, 2015. Friday, November 27, 2015 will be a regular alternate Friday closure day. No street sweeping services or trash pick-up will be provided on November 26. Streets will be swept and trash will be picked up as scheduled on all other days.

New Open Government Site Furthers City Transparency

At the direction of the Garden Grove City Council, the City has created an Open Government portal, via the City’s website at, where users can access public information about the City, including its finances, its officials, and other government resources. Through the creation of the Open Government site, the City can provide greater, more easily understandable, and completely anonymous, accessibility to City operations, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hyatt Sale Supports Investor Interest

The $137 million sale of the Hyatt Regency Orange County is the highest purchase price paid per room in Garden Grove, California at $208,000 per key. The purchaser, SCG America, a subsidiary of one of the largest construction companies in China – Shanghai Construction Group – considers the hotel its cornerstone in the western United States. The hotel, located in the Grove District - Anaheim Resort, will remain branded and managed by Hyatt Hotels.

Temporary Road Closures for Sunday's Half Marathon

On Sunday, November 15, 2015, from 5:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., various streets in Garden Grove will be closed or impacted by the 2nd Annual Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon. The 13.1-mile race will begin at the Disneyland® Resort and travel south through the Grove District – Anaheim Resort, along Harbor Boulevard.

Invasive Mosquitoes Found in Garden Grove

Today, the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) informed City officials that invasive mosquitoes have been found in Garden Grove. The species (Aedes aegypti) is a small, black, mosquito with white stripes, capable of transmitting West Nile virus as well as other diseases. A public health advisory warning of the existence of the invasive mosquitoes, including facts about the species, is being distributed to local residents.
