On Thursday, April 2, 2015, the City of Garden Grove will join communities around the world to show support for an autism awareness campaign called “Light it up Blue” (LIUB).
Spring is upon us! Garden Grove seniors are invited to the fun-filled Spring Celebration that includes refreshments, dancing, and a special visit by the Easter Bunny. The event will take place at the H. Louis Lake Senior Center on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., in the Senior Center Dining Room, located at 11300 Stanford Avenue. The judges are out and about! Through April 12, Garden Grove Pride volunteers will be pursuing the city's neighborhoods in search of the nicest-looking homes. The volunteers will use their best judgment to choose just 23 homes in each of the city's 17 zones, including their top selection, the Home of the Year. Each zone contains approximately 3,000 homes.
On Tuesday, March 24, Mayor Bao Nguyen and the Garden Grove City Council will pay tribute to Garden Grove resident Tibor Rubin, who was awarded the nation’s most prestigious military decoration, the Congressional Medal of Honor in 2005, for his heroic actions during the Korean War. Rubin’s courage and valor will be memorialized with the unveiling of a commissioned bronze bust of Rubin as a U.S.
It’s that time of year again for Garden Grove’s annual “Eggs-cavation” event on Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Atlantis Play Center. Atlantis Play Center is located at 13630 Atlantis Way in Garden Grove Park. Only 300 tickets for egg hunt participants are available.
Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes -- just ask a Garden Grove Pride Judge. The 42nd annual Garden Grove Pride Awards, which recognizes the finest-looking homes in the city, is seeking volunteer judges to select the most beautiful. Judges do not have to be Garden Grove residents and are encouraged to work in pairs.
The City of Garden Grove will offer a CPR/First Aid/AED certification class by EMS Safety Services, Inc., on Saturday, March 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at North Net Fire Training Center.
