(CALEA) presented Garden Grove Police Chief Kevin Raney and accompanying members of the Garden Grove Police Department, with the Department's eighth accreditation, and the Commission's highest honor, Accreditation with Excellence. The presentation took place during CALEA's Fall Conference, November 12 through 16, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Volunteers Needed for Senior Meals Program

Senior Meals and Services, Inc., providers of home-delivered meals to seniors in Garden Grove as well as surrounding communities, is in critical need of volunteer drivers and friendly visitors.

Volunteer drivers will deliver meals to homebound seniors Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Friendly visitors can donate as little as one hour a week to visit a socially- isolated senior in their home. Visiting hours are determined by the friendly visitor.

Road Improvements for Valley View Street

An eight-month reconstruction project is set to get underway next month on Valley View Street, from the 22 freeway to the northerly city limit in Garden Grove, which is 1300 feet north of Chapman Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid congestion. Normal working hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Feeding stale bread to the ducks at the park poses potential dangers for the animals and pollution issues for the community.
