    Land-Use Organization Selects Garden Grove’s Valley View Business Corridor to Conduct Market Assessment

    The land-use, non-profit organization Urban Land Institute, selected the City to sponsor a 2-day Technical Assistance Panel exploring strategies for the viability and sustainability of the Valley View Business Corridor. Sessions take place July 18 and July 19.

    Phase I of City’s Largest Mixed-Use Development Complete

    This past Tuesday, City officials and developer Kam Sang Company celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting for Phase I of Brookhurst Place-the City’s largest residential and commercial mixed-use development. Located in the Korean Business District, Brookhurst Place is bound by Brookhurst St., Brookhurst Way, and Garden Grove Blvd.

    Filing Period for November Elections to Begin

    Beginning Monday, July 16, 2018, the City will be accepting nomination papers for Mayor, and three Council Member seats for Districts 1, 3, and 4, for the November 6, 2018 election. The deadline to file the completed paperwork is Friday, August 10, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. Paperwork must be filed with the City Clerk’s Office.

    First Indication of West Nile Virus Activity in Orange County for 2018

    The OC Mosquito and Vector Control District has confirmed the first mosquito sample to test positive for West Nile virus in 2018. The mosquitoes were collected from Garden Grove, near Garden Grove Blvd. and Newhope St. on July 3. District staff will distribute information alerting residents to the detection of the virus and preventative measures.
