2016 West Nile Virus Activity Map

The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) has informed City officials of the confirmation of the first mosquito sample infected with the West Nile virus (WNV) in Garden Grove. The mosquitoes were collected in mosquito traps from a residential neighborhood near Garden Grove Boulevard and Newhope Street.

OCMVCD teams will be posting public health advisories in the area and alerting residents to the detection of WNV, and offering information on preventative measures against mosquitoes and WNV.

The City of Garden Grove encourages the community to take extra steps to protect themselves from mosquitoes, especially from dawn to dusk when mosquitoes are most active.

More information regarding West Nile virus can be found at the OCMVCD website and through the OC Health Care Agency’s website.
