Filing Period for November Elections to Begin

Beginning Monday, July 16, 2018, the City will be accepting nomination papers for Mayor, and three Council Member seats for Districts 1, 3, and 4, for the November 6, 2018 election. The deadline to file the completed paperwork is Friday, August 10, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. Paperwork must be filed with the City Clerk’s Office.

City Hall Closed on Independence Day

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, Garden Grove City Hall and the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. No street sweeping services will be provided on the holiday. Streets will be swept as scheduled on all other days. Also, trash pick-up will be delayed by one day.

Make Memories at Garden Grove’s Summer Day Camp

Day Camp provides children, ages 5 -12, with a fun, safe, and affordable 10-week summer program, beginning June 18. Camp hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Camp is located at the Courtyard Center at Village Green park, 12732 Main Street. The cost is $95 per week (before April 30) and $100 per week (after April 30).

City Revising Fee for Block Party Permits

On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, the Garden Grove City Council adopted a resolution to revise the fee for block party permits to cover the costs of public safety. Effective immediately, the fee for block party permits will be $136.50. The revised fee is based on the actual or estimated cost of providing the services, including labor, materials, and overhead.

May 22 City Council Meeting Cancelled

On Tuesday, May 22, 2018 the Garden Grove City Council, Successor Agency, Housing Authority, and Sanitary District meetings are cancelled. The next scheduled date for these meetings is on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

Heavy Traffic and Road Closures Memorial Day Weekend

Beginning Friday, May 25 through Monday, May 28, 2018, the 60th annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival will take place in downtown Garden Grove at Village Green park, located at 12732 Main Street. During the four-day festival, heavy traffic is anticipated in the immediate area. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly to avoid delays.
