City Celebrates Parks Make Life Better! Month with Free Open Houses

The National Recreation and Park Association, California Park and Recreation Society, and the City of Garden Grove proclaim July as Parks Make Life Better! Month. In celebration, several Garden Grove recreation facilities will have free admission on Friday, July 28, 2017.

City Council Meetings Cancelled on July 11 and August 8

Senior Center Offers Public Cooling Place During Summer

Soaring temperatures can be especially dangerous to seniors and children, especially if homes have no air conditioning. To offer some relief from the high temperatures, the H. Louis Lake Senior Center will serve as a public cooling center this Saturday when temperatures are forecasted to reach 95 degrees Fahrenheit and above.

Community Invited to Participate in “Summer OC” Photo Contest

The community is invited to participate in the “Summer OC” Photo Contest, hosted by the County of Orange. Residents are encouraged to submit photos of summer activities, like summer concerts, movies in the park, swimming, recreational sports, visiting the zoo, or general landscape shots.

City Under Citrus Greening Disease Quarantine

Recently, the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture discovered Huanglongbing, also known as HLB or citrus greening disease, in La Habra and Anaheim. Five-mile quarantines have been established in each area, which include the city of Garden Grove.

Kickoff the Summer with Free Concerts in the Park

The community is invited to attend the free Summer Concert Series, starting July 6 through August 10, at Eastgate Park, 12001 St. Mark Street. A total of six concerts will be held Thursday nights, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Kicking-off the series is Stone Soul, playing classic Motown hits. The first concert also celebrates July as Parks Make Life Better Month.
