Thousands Fill Car-Free Downtown

On Sunday, October 12 thousands of people filled the car-free streets of downtown Garden Grove for “Re:Imagine Garden Grove – A Downtown Open Streets Event.” The inaugural event closed streets to traffic and removed cars from nearly three miles of the downtown area to create a curated event route for all forms of non-motorized transportation to enjoy. The event celebrated the diversity of the Garden Grove community and promoted public health and active transportation through art, food, music, and activities in the car-free streets.

Utility Boxes Receive Artistic Facelift

Alyssa Johnson and Patricia Laukat, Girl Scout Cadettes from Garden Grove Troop 1224, are talented young artists striving to make a difference in their community. Both girls are lifelong residents of Garden Grove and are pursuing the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn, by improving the look of downtown, one utility box at a time. The award is designed to give girls the chance to show leadership, organization, determination, and dedication to improving their community.
