Welcome to the City of Garden Grove!

Garden Grove is a spirited and vibrantly progressive city located just south of Los Angeles in one of the most recognized areas of Southern California, Orange County (The OC). Our motto, "The City of Youth and Ambition," accurately reflects this culturally diverse community of over 173,000 people.

Garden Grove is home to the popular Strawberry Festival, the largest community-based Memorial Day event in the western United States.

Areas of interest include Little Saigon, the Korean Business District, the Grove District - Anaheim Resort, and downtown Main Street.

Garden Grove is conveniently located less than one mile from Disneyland, seven miles from Knott's Berry Farm, nine miles from local beaches, and ten miles from John Wayne Airport.

Schools in the Garden Grove Unified School District have been recognized as some of the best academically, and in sports. With 45 elementary schools, nine junior high schools, eight high schools, and five community colleges, Garden Grove can meet all of your family's educational needs.

The City of Garden Grove has many services to offer its community, including health services, higher education, recreational programs, and family entertainment. Garden Grove has seven fire stations and 13 police stations/substations helping to make our City's public safety efforts one of the best in the county. The City is staffed by more than 800 employees supported by more than 100 community-minded volunteers.

Garden Grove is home to a large number of churches and places of worship, most prominently the Christ Cathedral (formerly known as the Crystal Cathedral) the center of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. With safe streets, warm, sunny weather year-round, and community spirit and diversity, it's no wonder that people consider Garden Grove a great place to live, work, and visit.

Incorporated on June 18, 1956, the City celebrated its Diamond Jubilee (50 years) in 2006, with its founding in 1874 by Dr. Alonzo Cook. The city flower is the Orange Tropicana Rose, and the city tree is the Flame Coral.
